Gladys Frieda Roiger was born May 11, 1923, in Springfield, MN, the daughter of George and Margaret (Wersal) Roiger. She attended country school in North Star Township. In 1941 she married Leo Haas at St. Raphael's Catholic Church. Gladys and Leo farmed in Stately Township until she moved to Springfield in 1977. Gladys was a cook at the golf course, Home Cafe and Springfield Hospital. She also was a housekeeper for many years. As a lifetime member of St. Raphael's, she belonged to St. Anne's CCW, St. Boniface Catholic Aid Association, the craft group and card recycling. Gladys enjoyed playing cards, gardening and lawn care, quilting, crafts, cooking and baking, bingo, visiting with friends, fishing and especially being with her family and grandchildren. Gladys Haas died Saturday, January 13, 2007, at her home in Springfield at the age of 83 years. She is survived by her children - JoAnn and husband Joe Rothmeier of Springfield, Darlene and husband Kenny Utz of Springfield, Leo and wife Carol of Bloomington, Gene and special friend Joyce Weisensel of Springfield; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister Doris Schumacher of Wisconsin; brothers - George Roiger and Vernon and wife Annette Roiger of Springfield; sister-in-laws - Loretta Hedman of Sanborn and Lorraine Roiger of Sleepy Eye. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband- Leo in 1988; son - David in infancy; and brothers - Jerome and Arnold.
