Gladys Rosella Fast age 91, of Mountain Lake, Minnesota died on May 4, 2025, at Good Samaritan Society-The Village in Mountain Lake.


Visitation for family and friends will take place on Monday, May 12, 2025 from 10: 00 am to 11:00 am at the Sturm Funeral Home, Mountain Lake Chapel.


A private family service will be held at the Sturm Funeral Home, Mountain Lake Chapel, on Monday, May 12, 2025 at 11:00 am.


Interment will be at the Mountain Lake City Cemetery.

Gladys Rosella Fast was born on Aril 20, 1934 to Benjamin and Katharina (Harder) Schmidt on the family farm in Mountain Lake, MN.  She lived her early years on this farm and received her education at Country School #80 East until its closing.  She then attended Mountain Lake Public School, graduating in 1952.  Gladys was baptized upon confession of her faith at the First Mennonite Church at Mountain Lake on May 13, 1951.  On June 20, 1952, she was united in marriage to Edward Arthur Fast at the First Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake, MN where they remained members.  Subsequent to their marriage, they farmed until Edward's retirement in 1998.  She also worked outside the home at Montgomery Wards, Pleasant View Nursing Home and Ms B's in St. James.  Gladys loved to travel, which included 30 winters in Apache Junction, Arizona.  In August of 2010, Gladys moved to Parkwood  Apartments in Mountain Lake.  In August of 2017, she then moved to The Lodge in Mountain Lake. On April 15, 2025, she moved to the Good Samaritan Village.  She enjoyed sewing, cooking and camping.  Gladys looked forward to visits with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.


Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; sons, DeLyle Fast and LaRoy Fast; daughter-in-law, Luann Fast; great grandson, Colin Blair; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Schmidt.  Gladys is survived by her daughter, LaVonne (David) Jungas of Mountain Lake; daughter-in-law, Diane Fast of Butterfield; six grandchildren: Kimberly Jungas-Samson (Raymond) of Mantorville, Renee (fiancé Cliff Dahl) Olson of Salol, Vicki (Ryan) Spychalla of Richville, Ryan (Emily) Fast of Windom, Katherine (Andrew) Petty of Butterfield, Angela (Kyle) Blair of New Ulm; thirteen great grandchildren: Noah and Nya Samson, Caleb and Kaitlyn Olson, Riley and Courtney Spychalla, Grayson and McKinley Fast, Ethan and Olivia Petty, Liam, Nolan and Cole Blair; brother, Alvin (Ardyce) Schmidt, and many other relatives and friends.
