Gilbert Stern

Gilbert Edward Stern was born August 4, 1921, in Willow Lake Township, Redwood County, the son of Albert and Martha (Rosenau) Stern. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn. Gil attended Country School #85 and Zion Lutheran Parochial School in Sanborn. He was united in marriage to Levora Hansen of Walnut Grove on October 15, 1946. Gil was a farmer all his life and retired to Sanborn in May of 1991. He was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn and enjoyed playing cards, fishing, woodcraft in later years, and especially enjoyed raising livestock. Gil enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was a foster parent to six children. Gilbert Edward Stern died Saturday, September 29, 2007, at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis at the age of 86 years. He is survived by wife- Levora of Sanborn; sons- Gerald and special friend Jan Schell of Hertel, WI, and Grant and wife Betty of Brooklyn Park; grandsons- David (Andrea) and their children, Bailey and Zalen of Newport, and Jason of Prior Lake; and sister-in-law- Cristy Hansen of NE. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Martha; sisters- Florence Zamzow and Irene Menk; and two grandchildren in infancy- Tanya and Justin.
