Gertrude "Trudy" A. Holmen

Gertrude Adrianna Tims was born in Murray County, Minnesota, on August 11, 1923. She passed away January 14, 2026, at the age of 102 while she was a resident at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Mt. Lake.

Trudy was the eleventh of fifteen children raised on the family farm near Slayton. She started school at the age of seven after learning to speak English rather than Dutch. At age 18, Trudy began attending beauty school in Mankato. Following graduation, she worked in Blue Earth. 

Trudy married Raymond Schroeder in 1945 following his service in the Army and subsequent recovery from injuries in France in WW2. Their first home was with Lily and Earl Harrison near Comfrey who they worked for. The Harrisons were loved and taken in as part of the family.

Donna, Diane, Dayle and Duane were born to Trudy and Ray. After 38 years, Raymond passed away in 1983. Trudy and Ray were blessed with 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

God provided a new relationship for Trudy, and she married Arnold Holmen on August 1, 1987. With Arnold came three children - Paul, Martha Norman and their families, so life for Trudy became more active. Arnold passed away February 13, 2019. Trudy maintained her own apartment and moved into the Good Samaritan Home in December of 2023.

Thank you to all that had a part in mom's life - those that cared for her, lover her and knew her.  

A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
