Gertrude Suess

Gertrude F. Suess was born on October 29, 1910 in Mulligan Township, MN, the daughter of Peter Katie (Schloegl) Laux. Gertrude attended school and Normal Training in North Dakota where she later taught school. She married Florian Suess on June 11, 1940 at the Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth. The couple made their home and farmed in Home Township. Gertrude was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, a 4-H Leader of the Golden Gate Gophers for many years, a member of the Schoenstatt Prayer Group and enjoyed sewing and crafting hobbies. She is survived by her children; Carolyn (Tom) Bertrand of New Ulm, Donna (Harry) Scofield of Northfield, John Suess of Sleepy Eye, Kathleen Goetze special friend, Bob Britton of Duluth, 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and brother-in-law, Ben (Marcella) Suess of Sleepy Eye. She was preceded in death by her husband, Florian, sister, Hilda and brother, Albert.
