Germaine Baumann

Germaine Christina Baumann, age 86, died on Tuesday evening at Oak Lawn Health Care Center in Mankato, MN, the last surviving child of John and Christina (Engelen) Solyntjes. She was born on July 18, 1927 in Springfield, MN. She married Vince (Pete) Baumann on September 19, 1950, in Springfield. Germaine worked as a secretary for several insurance agencies, before leaving to serve as a bookkeeper with her husband for St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield, in addition to raising her family. Germaine and Pete loved to dance when they were younger and played canasta in their later years. The coffee pot was always on and she always had time to talk. She continued her social life at Oak Lawn and was "always busy". She was a huge Minnesota Twins fan and kept stats for the games. Germaine was a devoted wife and mother raising her children who survive her: Bill (Connie) of Bemidji, MN, Doug (Kay) of Onalaska, WI, Betty (Jeff) Mueller of North Mankato, MN, David of Springfield, MN, and Rick (Pam) of Springfield, MN; 9 grandchildren - Amy Reid, Sarah (Scott) Weinzierl, Corey (Jenny) Mueller, Brent Mueller, Katie (fiance - Mike Mouw) Baumann, Megan (Treff) Richert, Amanda (Kurt) Kozitza, Stefanie (Kevin) Olson, Michael Baumann; and eleven great grandchildren; and Buffy, a very special grand-doggy.. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1995; brother - John; and sisters - Dorothy, Mary Ann, and Margie.
