Gerald Riederer

In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations for Hospice or the charity of choice. Gerald was born January 7, 1934 in Mulligan Township to Leo and Matilda (Platz) Riederer. Gerry loved the land and was a third generation farmer of his family's homestead. He was an active NFO member. In the mid 1950's he served his country by enlisting in the Army as a tank commander. He was stationed in Germany from 1955-1957. During this time he developed a passion for travel and patriotism. On October 17, 1959 Gerry was united in marriage to Lorell Baune from Wabasso, MN. He was blessed with four children Chelli, Margie, Julie, and Jon. With a strong love for God, Gerry was a life long member of the Japanese Martyrs Catholic Church. He took an active role on the school board and church council. He was a lector, CCD teacher, Eucharist Minister and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Music was another important part of Gerry's life, playing the harmonica and guitar, singing in both the church choir and the Polka Angels. He also organized family holiday entertainment. Gerald Leo Riederer, 74, of rural Comfrey, MN died on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, MN.as a result of injuries he sustained in a fall at his home. Gerry is survived by his wife Lorell, daughters Chelli (Todd) Schneider, Margie (Elroy) Streier, Julie (Chris) Holden, son Jon (Anita) Riederer, 13 grandchildren, brothers Wilbert (Aggie) Riederer, Brother Cletus OFM, sisters Alice (Florian) Sprenger, Marie (Arnie) Hillsheim, Marlene (Tom) Johnson, and sister-in-law Mary Ann (Eugene) Riederer. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers James, John, Leonard, and Eugene. Gerald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to all. He will be greatly missed.
