Gerald Elmer Hoffman, age 88, of Saint James, died on April 30, 2025, at Crystal Seasons Assisted Living Center in Lake Crystal.
Visitation will be on Sunday, May 4, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Sturm Funeral Home in Saint James and will continue on Monday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Saint Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church. Funeral service will be held at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Saint James on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Saint James. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Saint James. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.
Jerry was born March 9, 1937, to Elmer and Mildred (Edwards) Hoffman in Mankato, Minnesota. He attended school at Immanuel Lutheran School in Mankato. On June 20, 1959, he married Loretta Gaare. Together, they raised 6 children.
Jerry worked as an Ag mechanic most of his life. During those years he also drove truck which included hauling corn dryers for FFS and driving a bulk fuel truck for MV Gas Company. He mowed lawn at Mt. Hope Cemetery for many years and even raised geese for sometime. Jerry never shied away from sharing his love for the color red. In retirement, he enjoyed tinkering, repairing and selling clocks which gained him many new friends throughout southern Minnesota. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, traveling and restoring old tractors. He was a Jack of all Trades and able to fix just about anything. A big part of his life was his family and he enjoyed any time he got to spend with this grandkids and great grandkids.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Loretta; children, Debbie (Bill) Kunz, Scott (Kathy) Hoffman, Larry (Niki) Hoffman, Barry (Tracy) Hoffman, and Jason (Crystal) Hoffman; 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; brother, Donald (Sharon) Hoffman; sister, Jan (Ron) Davis; and sisters-in-law, Jeanie, Joanne, Melva, and Sheryl.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; son, Greg; brothers, Delmer, Bill, Gene (Goody), Leon, and Lyle; and sister, Betty (Eugene) Wenner.
Jerry will be missed by his loving wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
