Gerald Gerry Current was born March 13, 1936 in rural Sleepy Eye to Lyle Angie (Baier) Current. He graduated from Sleepy Eye High School in 1954. In the fall of 1954 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. Gerry married Darleen Fischer on March 23, 1957 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. They moved to Seattle to start his career as a draftsman with Boeing Aircraft. Gerry retired in 1994. Before he retired, he was located in Belfast, Ireland, London, England and Rome, Italy as a Quality Control Inspector for Boeing Aircraft. He and his wife have traveled in many countries including a trip around the world. Upon retirement, they built a home on 160 acres 5 miles southeast of Sleepy Eye where he enjoyed his hobby of raising long horned steer. His white pick-up truck was very noticeable with a painting of a long horned steer on each door. Gerry is survived by his wife, Darleen of rural Sleepy Eye, daughters, Janet (Clifton) Richardson of Baton Rouge, LA and Karen Current of Springfield, MN, brothers, Ronald Current of New Ulm, MN and Harold (Muriel) Current of Denver, CO, sister, Donna Battig of Prescott, AZ, 3 granddaughters, Nicole Johnson, Yunika Thomas, Jessamay Thomas, grandson, Jelani Current, 3 great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Florence Current of Monticello, MN, Georgeen Dietz of Sleepy Eye, Audrey (Donn) Bruess of Sleepy Eye,Irene (Joseph) Maerten of Fridley, MN, Deanna (Dwight) Cox of Brooklyn Park, MN, brothers-in-law, Bill (Louise) Fischer of San Mateo, CA, Edward (Diane) Fischer of Copperopolis, CA, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Myron and brothers, Duane Current and William Current.
