Neufeld was born to Frank and Anna (Krahn) Neufeld on June 25, 1927 at Stanley, ND where he lived until 1936 when the family moved to Mountain Lake, MN. He attended several country schools, along with Mountain Lake Public School. On May 20, 1945, he was baptized upon his confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and was received into the membership of the First Mennonite Church. George worked on the family farm until his dad moved to the edge of Mountain Lake on a small farm. He then moved to Minneapolis to further his education and worked. On June 3, 1952 he married Tina Dick and joined the Lakeview Gospel Church. The couple shared joys and sorrows ever since. In 1954, they moved from Minneapolis to St. James and in 1955 they moved to Mountain Lake. George worked in St. James until 1963 when he went to work for John Deere as a mechanic. He also worked for Engemen Implement and as a furnace repairman after hours. From 1967 to 1968, he worked for the Worthington John Deere Implement and in 1968,he worked for LL Implement in Mountain Lake. He also drove truck for the Blackowski Company and for Curt's Farm Service as a parts man until retiring in 1989. George enjoyed fishing, yard work, woodworking and spending time with his grandsons. Even after retiring, he still enjoyed working with various farmers in the community. Even though he wasn't a farmer, he had the heart of a farmer. In August 2008, they moved to the Laker apartments where they lived until November 2009 when they moved to Good Samaritan Village. George is survived by his children: Dorothy (Allen) Rahn of Mt. Lake, Irene (Randy) Quiring of Welcome, MN and Ronald (Donna) Neufeld of Mt. Lake; 7 grandsons - Keith (Aubrey), Timothy (Heather), Sheldon and Dwight (Ivy) Rahn, Scott (Erin) and Shawn Neufeld and Matthew Quiring; 4 great-grandchildren; brother Albert (Esther) Neufeld of North Platte, NE and sister Anne Dawson of Whittier, CA. Other survivors include numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife Tina, brother Ervin and parents.
