Gayle Corinne Hoeft

Gayle Corinne (Halvorson) Hoeft age 77, of Madelia, Minnesota died on November 12, 2015, at her home. Gayle Halvorson was born August 6, 1938 to Claire and Clarice (Rolstad) Halvorson in New Ulm, Minnesota. She attended Madelia Schools and graduated from Madelia High School in 1956. Gayle was united in marriage to James Hoeft on September 29, 1957 at the Linden Lutheran Church. They raised their family in Madelia, Minnesota. Gayle was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and very active in the church circles. She was a member of Eastern Star, Madelia Community Chest, Madelia Jaycees, Madelia Alumni Association, and served as a leader of Girl Scouts. Gayle enjoyed gardening, baking, jigsaw puzzles, quilting, bird watching, Wheel of Fortune, and her daily crossword puzzles. When her family was young they enjoyed camping and traveled throughout the US. For many years Jim and Gayle wintered in Apache Junction, Arizona. She enjoyed sharing a cup of coffee with everyone that stopped and all of the great-grandkids would check the treat jar on every visit. Gayle is survived by her husband, Jim Hoeft of Madelia; children, Rebecca Christiansen and special friend David Lipman of Boca Raton, FL, Mark (Julie) Hoeft of Madelia, Lisa (Rick) Elkins of Madelia, Scott Hoeft and Megan Obrien of New Ulm; brother, Robert (Joanie) Halvorson of Windom; sisters-in-law, Jan Halvorson, Dorothy Hoeft, Carol (Howard) Johnson; brother-in-law, John (Lynn) Hoeft. Nine granddaughters: Marcy (Josh) Horak of Spearfish, SD, Sarah Hoeft and special friend Felipe of Madelia, Chelsea Hoeft and special friend Manuel of Madelia, Brooke (James) Forstner of Madelia, Jennifer (Martin) Mendiola of Madelia, Sonya Elkins and special friend Brandon of Madelia; Alyssa (Mercedes) Lacy of New Braunfels, TX; Laurel Boyd of Boston, MA and Erica Christiansen of Gainesville, FL., and 12 great-grandchildren, Cayel, Jada, Sebastian, Noel, Izaiah, Kennedy, Carter, Jessen, Colten, Jaylyn, baby D and baby M. She was preceded in death by parents, Claire and Clarice Halvorson; brother Gary, and brothers-in- law, Clair Hoeft and Harold Davis.
