Garth Jensen

Garth David Jensen, 54, of Springfield, MN died on Monday, April 27, 2009 at Sleepy Eye Care Center. Garth David Jensen was born on May 8, 1954 to Lloyd and Irene (Bast) Jensen. He grew up in the Springfield area with one sister and five brothers. He was baptized on June 6, 1954 and confirmed on April 7, 1968 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. In May 1972 Garth graduated from Springfield High School. On July 18, 1975 he married Rita Roiger. To this marriage were born three sons - Todd on December 1, 1977, Lonny on August 13, 1981 and Terry on December 15, 1983. He worked on the road for Mathiowetz Construction and later at RG Construction of Marshall, but his love was farming and raising cattle along with fishing and hunting. In 1983 the family moved to the Roman Roiger farm. Rita died on December 20, 1988. Garth then married Sandy Froehlich on November 30, 1991 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Garth was blessed with four grandchildren which were the love of his life. He also enjoyed fixing and building things in the shop. Garth is survived by his wife - Sandy; sons - Todd of Springfield, Lonny (Elaine) of Sanborn, Terry (fiancee Sarah) of Springfield; grandchildren - Easton, Isaac, Brooke and Abigail; sister and family - Gail (Lowell) Heiderscheidt; brothers and families - Gary (Karen), Greg (Kathy), Grant (Lynette), Gerard (LeAnn), Glenn (Anita); fathers and mother-in-law - Roman Roiger, Roland and Shirley Froehlich; brothers and sisters-in-laws - LeRoy (Cheryl) Froehlich, Cindy (Robert) Olson, Ann (Rick) Black, David (Carmen) Froehlich, Cari (Jeff) Stager; and special friends - Roger Hauth Hank and Ramona Reinhart. Garth is preceded in death by his parents - Lloyd and Irene Bast and Rita (Roiger) Jensen.
