Frieda Roiger

Frieda Kaul Roiger was born on January 1, 1931 in Hosmer, South Dakota to Christian and Christina (Hieb) Kaul. She spent her first 18 years living in Hosmer and working as a telephone operator. On August 27, 1949, she was united in marriage to George J. Roiger in Springfield, MN and last year celebrated 65 years together. Frieda enjoyed, cooking, crocheting, spending time with her family and her love for gardening especially her large variety of flowers, baking and sharing her Christmas cookies with friends and relatives, and decorating her home for holidays throughout the year. She enjoyed many summer trips to Northern Minnesota and visiting her large immediate family in South Dakota. She was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church, the Legion Auxiliary, and an honorary member of the CCW. She volunteered her time delivering Meals on Wheels and enjoyed selling Poppies for the Auxiliary. Frieda Catherine Roiger, 84 of Springfield passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Frieda is survived by her husband George of 65 years, sons and daughters, Charles (Vicki) Roiger, Kathryn (Nicholas) Highland, Gretchen Roiger, Michael Roiger, Susan (Robert) Newman, Heidi (Patrick) Linder and seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Wilhelm and Gideon Kaul, sisters Mary Cully, Christine Salwei; and 13 half and step-brothers and sisters. Frieda was the last surviving sibling of her large family. Frieda was a kind, unpretentious, caring and loving person. She will be greatly missed by her family.
