Frieda Eichstadt

December 11, 1913 — June 26, 2011

Frieda Emma Eichstadt was born December 11, 1913, in Pocohantas County, IA the eldest daughter of Adolph and Marie (Yarisch) Hanish. The family moved to a farm in the Springfield-Comfrey area where she met her future husband Ervin Eichstadt. Frieda and Ervin were married May 23, 1934. They made their home on the Eichstadt family farm in Storden Township where Frieda lived for the next 74 years. In July of 2008, she moved to Valley View Apartments in Lamberton. Frieda loved her home and yard and was well known for her African Violets. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jeffers, Ladies Aid, and the Good Neighbor Club. Frieda Eichstadt died Sunday, June 26, 2011, at the Springfield Medical Center Hospital at the age of 97 years. She is survived by 3 children- Harlan of Coon Rapids, Darlene Wolfe of Brooklyn Center, and Dennis of Inver Grove Heights; she was adored, respected, and much loved by her 7 grandchildren- Taryn Eichstadt of Coon Rapids, Tammy (Tim) Balder of Henderson, Tom (Traci) Eichstadt of Coon Rapids, Gene (Syd) Wolfe of Duluth, Susan Wolfe Bohn (Jim) of Carlisle, MA, Jeff (Jane) Eichstadt of Inver Grove Heights, and Allyson (Tod) Jelinski of Lakeville; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers- Walter (Betty) Hanish, and Robert (Janice) Hanish; sister-in-law Evelyn Hanish; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband Ervin in 1982; infant son Vernon in 1942; sister Martha and her husband George Carnell; brother William; brother Herman and his wife Gladiola; and sister-in-law Shirley Hanish.
