Fredrick Clifford Peterson was born May 16, 1912, in Royal, IA, the son of Perry and Cora (Maccabee) Peterson. At the age of two, Fred moved with his family to the Comfrey area. He attended country school through the eighth grade before he started farming. Fred was united in marriage to Bernice Monson on September 19, 1935, in New Ulm. The couple farmed west of Comfrey until retirement in 1976, then continued to live on the farm before moving into Comfrey in 1983. Fred became a resident of St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield in December of 2005. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and enjoyed fishing, baseball, and following the Minnesota Twins. Fredrick Clifford Peterson died Monday, March 6, 2006, at St. John Lutheran Home at the age of 93 years. Survivors include children- Gerald and wife Luella Peterson of Miltona, MN, Karen Blackstad of Hastings, MN, and Lois and husband Marvin Weiss of Hillman, MN; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 9 great, great grandchildren; and sisters- Gladys Russenberger of Sanborn, Ethel Lundblad of Windom, and Hazel Fredine of Mountain Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife- Bernice in 1995; grandsons- Scott Blackstad and Louis Weiss; son-in-law- Ernest Blackstad; sister- Alice Johnson; and brother- Leslie Peterson.
