Frederick Tauer

Frederick Michael Tauer was born on November 2, 1927 in Mulligan Township the son of George and Anna (Helget) Tauer. He grew up and attended country school and St. Mary's School. Fred served in the US Army in Korea from 1950 to 1953. After his discharge he attended the University of MN for Agriculture. He married Janet Bertrand at St. Mary's Catholic Church on May 12, 1956. Fred farmed from 1957-1972 and then worked for the Minnesota Farmers Union as a district rep. until he retired in 1993. Fred enjoyed Sunday mornings after Mass with family over coffee and treats, gardening, stamp collecting, dancing, baseball, especially the MN Twins and playing cards. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, sang in the Cecelian Choir for 60 years and was also a member of the KC's and the VFW. Fred spent 58 years married to the love of his life. He was a devoted father and grandfather and will be missed by all. Survivors include his wife, Janet of Sleepy Eye, children, Bradley (Elizabeth) Tauer of White Bear Lake, Douglas (Rhonda) Tauer of Beaumont, TX, Kathleen (Larry) Steffl of Sleepy Eye, James Tauer and (Darla Charlsen) of Comfrey and Lisa (Merlin) Wahl of Sleepy Eye, 15 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, brothers, Alcuin (Arlene) Tauer of Sleepy Eye, Cletus (Ramona) Tauer of Luck, WI, sister-in-law, Marie Tauer of Sleepy Eye and in-laws, Marion Bertrand, Bernice Schneider and Sandy (David) Runing. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Martin, Larry Sr. and Roland, nephews, Patrick, Larry Jr. and Michael, brothers-in-law, Robert Bertrand and Jerome Schneider.
