Fred Stenke

July 6, 1922 — June 28, 2014

Fred was born on July 6, 1922 in Carson Township, MN to Fred and Helen (Oeltjenbruns) Stenke, Sr. He was baptized into the Christian faith on July 30, 1922. On January 24,1945, Fred married Irene Heinitz at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake, MN. After their marriage, they farmed in the Mountain Lake area. In 1954 they moved to Osakis, MN where they farmed until 1967 when they returned to Mountain Lake. Their marriage was blessed with 4 children. Irene died on March 4, 1979. Fred married Charlotte Ness on July 20 1980 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Storden, MN. They made their home in Mountain Lake and enjoyed thirteen winters in Arizona. Charlotte died on April 1, 1998. Fred was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He loved doing his Land O' Lakes milk route which he did for 19 years. When he wasn't working, Fred enjoyed visiting with others, dancing, listening to old time music and playing cards. In his later years, he spent many enjoyable winters in Arizona. Fred Stenke Jr. is survived by his children: Joyce (Paul) Newhouse, Alexandria, MN, Jeanne (David) Sawatzky, Healy, AK, and Rod (Laurie) Stenke, rural Mt. Lake, sisters: Marie Heinitz, Mt. Lake, and Helen (Lester) Evers, rural Windom, brother-in-law, Stan Heinitz, Florida, 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his significant other, Joyce Hilton of La Porte, IA. He was preceded in death by his wives: Irene and Charlotte, son, Jerry Stenke, and brothers-in-law: Jack Heinitz, and Orlando Heinitz.
