Floyd and his twin brother were born to Otto and Ruth Imker on May 2, 1919 in Redfield, SD. He attended country school in Spink County while living on a farm with his family in South Dakota until 1931. When the family moved to a farm south of Lamberton, he attended district 37 country school until 8th grade. He attended Storden High School his freshman year, then finished High School at Lamberton, graduating with the class of 1937. Floyd started farming with his brothers after graduation until he was drafted into the Army Air Corp based in Chauntefield, IL and served in Trinidad from 1942-1945. During his time in the service he specialized in airplane and engine repair and continued on to engine school in Indiana. On October 2, 1946 Floyd was united in marriage to Marjorie Albers. The couple returned to farming in 1948. Floyd was an accomplished woodworker, enjoyed playing cards and traveling. Floyd was very active in his community and church. He was a member of Lamberton American Legion Post 41 and served as Post commander. Floyd taught Sunday School, served as a trustee and worked on three mission trips for the Lamberton United Methodist Church. He and his wife, Marjorie, were both active in Wilbur Sayles Missions. Floyd was president of local and county Farmers Union which gave him a seat on the state board of the Minnesota Farmers Union. He served as director for the Lamberton Farmers Elevator and for the Windom Co-op Association. He worked toward the founding of the Renville Co-op Transport Assoc. He was appointed by the governor to the State Poultry Improvement Board and was on the Cottonwood County Extension Board, and the advisory board of the Minnesota Southwest Experimental Station. Floyd is survived by five children - Linda (Kenneth) Knutson of Richfield, Faye (Randy) Witte of Minneapolis, Brent (Jane) Imker of Lamberton, Byron (Sherri) Imker of Sioux Falls, SD, Renee (Paul) Strickland of Gainesville, VA; 19 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; brothers - Lester Imker of Lamberton and Dwight (Alice) Imker of Chanhassen; sister Virginia (Marvin) Stadum of Sioux Falls; sister-in-law Marjorie L. Imker of Lamberton. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Marjorie on July 2, 2012; son Charles, brothers - Lyle, Richard and Lloyd; and a sister Lucille.
