Florian Schropfer

Florian was born October 18, 1911 in Stark Township, Brown County, the son of Frank and Teresa (Seidl) Schroepfer. He attended country school and worked a rural milk route. On November 23, 1937 he married Veronica Hornick at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield. The couple lived in Springfield and Florian had a Bulk route for Standard Oil for 5 years before moving to a farm north of Springfield. In 1958 they moved to Sleepy Eye where Florian owned and operated Schroepfer's Tavern, worked for the Sleepy Eye Golf Course and was the Head Cook at the Orchid Inn for 17 years. He enjoyed playing cards, music, dancing, spending time with family and friends, and farming. Florian died on March 1, 2005 at the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye at the age of 93 years. He is survived by his daughter - Donna and her husband Ervan Moldan of Sleepy Eye; grandchildren - Curtis and wife Danielle Moldan of Sleepy Eye and Susan and husband Terry Brown of Sanborn; great grandchildren - Kyle, Cassandra, and Gracie; sisters - Agnes and husband Edwin Tauer of Sleepy Eye and Rosella Hillesheim of Sleepy Eye; brothers - Sylvester and wife Pearl Schroepfer of Sleepy Eye and Jerome and wife Arlene Schroepfer of Sleepy Eye; and sisters-in-law - Clara Schroepfer of Sleepy Eye and Loretta Schroepfer of Sleepy Eye. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Veronica in 1988; a sister - Lorraine Weiss; and brothers - Clement, Felix, Edward, Raymond, Walter, and Albert.
