Florence Halvorson

Florence Jean Halvorson was born July 22, 1928, in Madelia, MN, the daughter of Fred and Mary Mae (Little) Bruns. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lamberton. Florence was united in marriage to Marvin Pauling on February 5, 1945, in Lamberton. Florence worked at Phil's Cafe in Lamberton for many years, then worked at Valley View Manor for 10 years. Marvin died in 1981. Florence married Lowell Halvorson on January 22, 1983, at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield. She worked for 10 years at the Senior Citizens Meal Site in Springfield. A lifetime resident of the Lamberton/Springfield area, Florence was a former member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, and a current member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church. She was a member of the Springfield American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed growing plants, playing Bingo, fishing, playing cards, and going to Jackpot Junction. She is survived by her children- Loretta Kruse of Plymouth, Dennis and wife Jan Pauling of Montevideo, Don and wife Ruth Pauling of Storden, Lorraine Weber of Storden, LuAnn and husband Lee Ryker of Jeffers, Dahlen and wife Janelle Pauling of Montevideo, and Dan and wife Kelly Pauling of Hanska; step-children- Connie and husband Wayne Augustin of Springfield, Dean and wife Rachelle Halvorson of Springfield, Roxanne Bjonfald of Franklin, and Ted and wife Annie Halvorson of Comfrey; step-daughter-in-law- Bev Halvorson of Morgan; 27 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and sister- Nellie Halvorson of Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Marvin in 1981; husband Lowell in 2006; daughter Shirley in infancy; brothers- Walter, Orville, Leonard, and Lester; and step-son- J.R. Halvorson.
