Ferne Margaret Seavert was born on December 15, 1917 in Cottonwood County, MN to Albert and Emma (Hansen) Seavert. She attended school in Comfrey, MN. On June 5, 1938 she married Benjamin Goring at St. John's Lutheran Church in Darfur. The couple farmed east of Darfur until 1975 when they moved to Darfur. After her husband's death, Ferne moved to St. James, MN and became active in volunteer work making quilts. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing. Ferne was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in St. James. Ferne is survived by two sons; Duane Goring and wife Nancy of Westbrook, MN, and Darrell Goring and wife Charnelle of Apple Valley, MN; two daughters; Beverly Burton and husband Bob of N. Las Vegas, NV, and Virginia Reimann and husband Harold of Papillion, NE. She is also survived by six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one sister, Alice Koenig of St. James, and one brother, Walt Seavert, of Shoshone, ID; sister-in-law, Donnabelle Seavert; and several other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Edith Curley, one brother, James Seavert, and one grandson, James Burton.
