Excelda Burns

Excelda JoAnn Burns was born on June 5, 1929, the daughter of Ted and Excelda Busch in Rockrapids, IA. She moved with her family as a teenager to Walnut Grove and graduated from Walnut Grove High School. She married James L. Burns on February 14, 1948. They farmed east of Revere for many years before moving into Lamberton where she raised her 13 children. JoAnn was a member of the Lamberton Legion Auxiliary and a loving wife and mother. JoAnn died on Thursday, March 31, 2005 at Valley View Manor Care Center in Lamberton at the age of 75 years. She is survived by her children - Dennis and wife Beverly Burns of Burnsville, Sue and husband Joe Gores of Montgomery, Roxy Thorne of Florida, James Robert Burns of Lakeville, Tom Burns of Bloomington, Penny Burns of Bloomington, Robin Brown and special friend Jim of Burnsville, Cathy Johnson of Owatonna, Vincent Burns of Lakeville, Todd Burns of Bloomington, Darla and husband Gary Scheffert of Owatonna and Tammy Burns of Springfield; 16 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law - Mrs. Rodney (Punky) Busch and Doris Busch; and the extended family at Valley View Manor. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband James L. Burns; son - Scott Douglas Burns; brothers - Jay Busch and Rodney Busch and grandchildren - Dakota Scheffert and Joey Brown.
