Evone Zwaschka

Evone (Anderson) Zwaschka passed away peacefully in the early morning on Monday, April 11, 2011, at the Sleepy Eye Care Center. She was a lifetime resident of the Comfrey area having many friends and relatives being cherished by her who were the roots to living a full and enjoyable life. Evone was born March 7, 1921, the only daughter of four children to Clarence and Prudence (Elg) Anderson. She was very active and involved in many community functions and was dedicated to her spiritual and religious activities with a strong faith in God. Evone was united in marriage to Alfred Zwaschka on May 4, 1946, and worked alongside her husband for years on the farm. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, the Mission Circle, and sang in the church choir. Evone enjoyed quilting, embroidery, making rag-rugs, and playing cards. She also enjoyed singing in the Hee-Haw band, painting residential buildings inside and out, dancing, and taking bus tours. Evone especially treasured time with her family. She was a cheery and positive person with an optimistic attitude, always wearing a smile, and willing to help others in time of need regardless of the situation. She was a resident at the Sleepy Eye Care Center the past 2 years where the nurses loved her witty personality, and she was known as a hoot in fun and laughs that they truly enjoyed. She is survived by children- Ruth and husband Dave Englin of Comfrey, and Ralph Zwaschka of Sleepy Eye; grandchildren- Andrew and wife Amy Englin, Garret Englin and special friend LeAnn Belt, and Kate and husband Rick Thurston; great-grandchild Taylor Thurston; special little girls- Jenna and Carli; brother Roger (LaVonne) Anderson; sisters-in-law- Margaret Anderson, Mavis Anderson, Betty Zwaska, Dolores (Ray) Mlazgar, and Cyrilla Beal; and many nieces, nephews and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alfred on March 24, 2011; brothers- Vernon and Elden; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. She will be missed by many friends and relatives during a life of 90 years.
