Everett George Huiras was born on July 22, 1918 in Leavenworth Township, the son of Edwin and Minnie (Mickelson) Huiras. He attended country school and helped on the family farm. Everett was united in marriage to Isabel Berberich on September 30, 1941 in Leavenworth. They farmed and raised a family of eleven children. He was a member of the Japanese Martyrs Church, Knights of Columbus, Catholic Aid, and Fraternal Order of Eagles in Sleepy Eye. Everett enjoyed traveling with Isabel during retirement , Leavenworth baseball, golfing, fishing, hunting, playing cards, and visiting with family, friends and his grandchildren. He is survived by his children - Marie Christensen of New Ulm, Lois (Larry) Stoll of New Ulm, Alice (Joseph) Hillesheim of Sleepy Eye, Jerry (Judy) Huiras of Morgan, Patrick (Martha) Huiras of Oakdale, MN, Randy (Wendy) Huiras of Sleepy Eye, Gail Haas(special friend (Ken Shelhamer) of Scottsburg IN, Jane (John) Axton of Charlotte, NC and Greg (Sue) Huiras of Sleepy Eye, 29 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife - Isabel in May of 2007; twin sons - Leonard and Linus; and a brother - Edwin.
