Evenlyn Sonnenberg

Evelyn Sylvia Sonnenberg, youngest child of Edward and Mary (Timm) Krueger was born in North Star Township in Brown County, MN on November 2, 1908. She attended rural schools and graduated from Springfield High School in 1927. Evelyn attended business college in Minneapolis and also worked there and in Mankato, Winnebago and Forest City, Iowa where she met Clifford H. Sonnenberg. They were married on September 16, 1938 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They moved to Watertown, SD in 1946. She was employed at the South Dakota Employment Service for 15 years before retiring. After residing in Watertown, SD for 54 years, Evelyn moved back to her home town in December, 2000 to reside in Vista Ridge and eventually in the Riverhaven Unit of St. John Lutheran Home where she died on May 8, 2007. She was 98 years old. She was a life long member of the First United Methodist Church and UMW in Watertown. Several other Christian ministries benefited from her generous heart, especially Midwest Bible Camp where she enjoyed volunteering. Reading, knitting afghans, enjoying bible studies with her many friends, spending winters in Arizona and visiting her extended family were all a joy to her. Evelyn S. Sonnenberg, 98, of Springfield, MN died on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield, MN. Evelyn is survived by five nieces, Ora Burginger, Story City, IA, Betty Pudlo, Tucson, AZ, Audrey Little, Springfield, MN, Darlene Heathcote, Sartell, MN and Marilyn Heichbelbech, Arcadia, FL plus one nephew, Wesley Werner, Lamberton, MN. She is preceded in death by her husband in 1978 and sisters and brothers - Alma Werner, Lena Werner, Anna Kieninger, Meta Lawrence, Esther Nelson, Arthur Krueger and John Krueger.
