Born April 17, 1925, on a farm up in the hills near Strawberry Point, Iowa, to Fred and Helena (Baumgartner) Hock, Evelyn graduated from Strawberry Point High School in 1943. After completing a business course at Wartburg College, Waverly, IA, she worked as a secretary for the Lutheran Children's Home, Waverly, IA, and for General Mills in Minneapolis. Evelyn and Orville married on May 23, 1954, in St. Paul, MN. They made their home in Minneapolis, Morgan, and finally, Springfield, MN. She was bookkeeper for Orville's jewelry store for 34 years and worked as a teachers' aide in the Springfield Public Schools for 12 years, retiring in 1986. Evelyn was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Springfield and Mary-Martha Circle. She enjoyed quilting at church, having coffee with friends, and going to garage sales. Evelyn will be sorely missed by her husband and three daughters, her extended family, and her many friends. Her unconditional love, lively sense of humor, faith in God, and her wisdom and generosity touched many people. Your work is done, good and faithful servant. Evelyn Marie (Hock) Wandersee, age 84, died February 4th, at St. John Lutheran Home, Springfield. Evelyn is survived by her husband, Orville Wandersee, and daughters, Cindy and husband Brad Jenson of Brier, WA; Becky and husband Steve Mark of Springfield, MN; and Jenny of Minneapolis, MN; as well as grandchildren Peter and Mark Jenson, and Stefan and Eva Mark; brother Rev. Albert (Gerda) Hock of Strawberry Point, IA; sister Vera (Rev. Richard) Schwarz of Elwood, NE; sisters-in-law Merle Benson of Richfield, MN, and Janet (Tony) Magliaro of Las Vegas, NV; brother-in-law Dick Toskey of Minnetonka, MN; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Fred Hock; sisters-in-law, Fern Hock, Martha Hock, and Eileen Toskey; and brothers-in-law, Lester Kamholz and Enfrid Benson.
