Evelyn Margaret Adelia (Lindquist) Kunze was born October 12, 1916 in Minneapolis to August and Emma (Wicklund) Lindquist. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in North Minneapolis. Evelyn graduated from Minneapolis North High School in 1934, with a business concentration. Following graduation she worked briefly for the Strutware Manufacturing Company, and later as a secretary in the Trust Department at Marquette National Bank. She met her boss' son, William F. Kunze, Jr., while he was home on leave from the U. S. Army. They married on October 13, 1945 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. To this union was born two children-Barbara Elaine and Theodore Myron. Evelyn stayed home to care for the children when they were young. Evelyn and Bill also helped care for Evelyn's mother until her death in 1957. When Ted started school, Evelyn began working part-time in the Classified Advertising Department of the Minneapolis Star and Tribune. She continued working there until her retirement in 1982. Her husband, Bill, died in 1968. After her retirement, Evelyn did volunteer work at the Augustana Nursing Home in Minneapolis. Her involvement there increased after moving to the adjoining Park Center Apartments. She received the 1993 Excellence in Care award from the Augustana Care Corporation in recognition of her contributions. In 2001 she moved to Prairie View apartments in Saint James so she could get more support from Ted and his family. As her health continued to fail, she moved to Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James. It was there that she died on Thursday, June 21, 2007. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Bill, and by her sister Ethel J. C. Lindquist.
