Eugene Dougherty

Gene was born June 26, 1964 in St. James to parents Arthur and Engold (Diel) Dougherty. He attended kindergarten in Trimont, grades 1-8 and was Baptized and Confirmed at St. John's Willow Creek. He attended Amboy Good Thunder and graduated from Sandborn in 1983. He married Dawn Mathistad and later divorced.. He enjoyed working on demo cars, fishing, hunting, gardening and cooking. Gene especially enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter Nevaeh and his many nieces and nephews. Also known as Uncle Cookie. Gene was preceded in death by his father and grandparents. He is survived by his children Heather Dougherty and special friend Les Kallsted of Bemidji, Brandon Doughertry and special friend Kim Roone of Madelia, Benjamin Dougherty and special friend Sheyienne Mehl of Moorhead, Nathaniel Dougherty of Trimont and Alex Zirbel of Worthington, his mother Engold Diel of St. James, brothers Arthur (Jr.) and Brenda Dougherty of St. James, Wayne Dougherty of Frost, sister Ruth Ann Dougherty of Mankato, granddaughter Nevaeh of Madelia and many nieces and nephews.
