Eugene Blackstad

Eugene James Blackstad was born in St. James on July 27, 1934, the son of Edwin and Julia Blackstad. He grew up in the St. James area and attended country school through the 8th grade. Gene was baptized and confirmed at Albion Lutheran Church. He enjoyed church youth activities, youth camp and family camping. Gene also enjoyed tending his garden. He loved to spend time visiting with family and friends. He enjoyed the friendships he made while living in group homes. He is survived by his sister; Sonja (Lyle) Lupke of Truman, nieces and nephews; Veronica Schoenenberger, Bradley Sandberg, Nancy Cavanaugh, Susan Sandberg, Timothy Sandberg and Judy Postolka. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother; David Blackstad. Let not your heart be troubled. Neither let it be afraid.
