Ethel Jenniges

Ethel Adeline Jenniges was born May 5, 1930, to Carl and Clara (Lenning) Engel in Mulligan Township, Brown County. She attended Comfrey country school through the 8th grade, then went to work as a housekeeper. Ethel was united in marriage to Alfred N. Jenniges on April 13, 1948, in Comfrey, MN. To this union 6 children were born to which she was devoted. Ethel cooked in various cafes in Springfield until owning and operating the 'Home Cafe' for many years until retiring. She cared for her husband Alfred who was ill until he died in 1979. Ethel was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield. Ethel Jenniges died Friday, July 2, 2010, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield at the age of 80 years. She is survived by her children- John (Colleen) Jenniges of Springfield, Karen (Dennis) Baumann of Springfield, Adeline Rummel of Springfield, Gail Jenniges (Leonard Marz) of Springfield, Joseph (Barb) Jenniges of Eden Prairie, and James (Chantel) Jenniges of Rochester; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Sophie Bast; and several nieces and nephews who very special to her. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alfred; infant son Bruce; brothers- Walter and Arthur Engel; sisters- Della Meyers and Dorothy Rupp; and son-in-law James Rummel.
