Ethel Feil

Ethel Lillian Marie Freitag, the daughter of Otto and Minnie (Ziemke) Freitag was born on January 2, 1912, in Delton Township, Cottonwood County, MN. She received her education at a country school near her home. Ethel was baptized at home and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake, MN, where she remained a member the rest of her life. On May 27, 1934, Ethel was united in marriage to Jacob Feil at her parents' farm in Midway Township, Cottonwood County. The couple made their home in Mountain Lake, where they enjoyed 71 years, four months and two days together. She cared for the home and raised their family and also worked at Tony Downs for a few years. Ethel enjoyed crocheting, knitting and handiwork. Ethel entered the Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake on July 17, 2001, and this is where she died on Monday evening, August 29, 2005. She attained the age of 93 years, seven months and 27 days. Ethel is survived by her husband, Jacob Feil of Mountain Lake, MN; a daughter-in-law, Arlene Feil of Mountain Lake, MN; three daughters, Darlene and her husband Kenneth Friesen of Sioux Falls, SD, and twin daughters, Marilyn Grantz of Monticello, MN and Marjorie Feil of Windom, MN; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James Feil; a son-in-law, Richard Grantz; a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Marie Mortenson; two sisters, Esther Jass and Hazel Derksen;and six brothers, Arnold, August, Elmer, Herbert, Arthur and Alfred Freitag.
