Esther Lily Zellmer, 92, of Sleepy Eye, MN died on Sunday, March 2, 2008 at Sleepy Eye Medical Center. Esther was born on the family farm in rural Brown County, near Evan, MN on November 14, 1915, the daughter of Ernest R. Alma (Dobberstein) Zellmer. She lived with her family on the farm until the mid-1970's. As a young girl she attended District #58 School. She stayed on the farm and assisted her parents and brothers with farming as well as homemaking. Esther raised chickens and was an avid gardener. Her hobbies included, fishing, embroidery, playing cards and entertaining family and friends. Esther was a devoted daughter, sister and aunt. After her parents death she cared for her three brothers and maintained a home for them. Esther moved into Sleepy Eye in the 1980's and lived at Countryside Apartments for the last seven years. She loved Countryside and the dedicated and caring staff. Esther was a member of Union Congregational Church and later the Methodist Church, both in Sleepy Eye. She is survived by her sister, Eunice (Stanley) Larson of Hillman, MN, niece, Rebecca (Robert) Patient of St. Paul, MN, nephew, Thomas (Debra) Larson of Clear Lake, MN, great-nephews, Jordan Jacob Larson of Clear Lake and cousin, Myrtle Westegard of Sleepy Eye. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Reinhart, Willard and Melvin Zellmer.
