Esther Schiller

Esther Rose Wolle, the daughter of Henry and Evelyne (Urban) Wolle was born on February 16, 1919, at Truman, MN. She was baptized on March 21, 1919 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Truman. On June 18, 1933, Esther was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in St. James, MN, and this is where she remained a member. She received her education in St. James and Butterfield, MN. On November 7, 1937, Esther was united in marriage to Elmer Dean Schiller at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in St. James. They were farmers and operated a livestock and dairy operation northeast of St. James. Elmer died on October 30, 1984. Esther continued to live on the farm and helped her family run the day to day operations. Until her eyesight failed, Esther enjoyed using the computer, sewing, crocheting, gardening and raising flowers, and sewing dolls for her grandchildren. Esther will be remembered for her terrific sense of humor, gift of hospitality, and how she helped and cared for others. Esther died on Friday morning, November 18, 2005, at the Madelia Community Hospital in Madelia, MN. She is survived by three daughters, Geraldine Green of Mountain Lake, MN, Sharon Elsing of Madelia, MN, and Debra Schiller of Chandler, AZ; four sons, Dean and wife Shirley Schiller of West Fargo, ND, Dennis and wife Twyla Schiller of Granite Falls, MN, Darwood Schiller of St. James, MN, and Delvin and wife Lori Schiller of St. James, MN; 15 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; two sisters, Eldora Froslan of Phoenix, AZ, and Wilma Anacker of Darfur, MN; a brother, Melvin and wife Ilah Wolle of Darfur, MN; a brother-in-law, Bob Schiller of St. James, MN; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer Schiller; a sister, Helen Nessler; and three brothers, Martin, Julius and Willmar Wolle.
