Esther Fast

Esther Anna Kliewer, the daughter of Peter G. and Anna (Lohrenz) Kliewer was born on September 25, 1916, in Mountain Lake, MN. She received her education at District #62 Country School near Mountain Lake. On May 28, 1933, Esther was baptized uponc onfession of her faith and recieved as a member of Bethel Mennonite Church in Mounatin Lake, where she remained a life long member. Esther was united in marriage to John F. Fast on April 6, 1946, at the Bethel Mennonite Church. They made their home in Mountain Lake, where Esther worked at Worthmore and the Drug Store for a few years each and for 26 years as a dietitian at the Eventide Nursing Home. John died on October 4, 1995. She enjoyed knitting, crochetting, sewing and cooking, and she was a member of the American Legion Auxillary. In March 2002, Esther moved to Rochester, MN to be near her family, and in July 2004, she moved into the Madonna Towers in Rochester. Esther A. Fast, age 89, died on Friday, May 12, 2006, at the Madonna Towers Nursing Home in Rochester, MN. Esther is survived by her three children, Norman and his wife Barbara Fast of Rochester, MN, Karen and her husband Larry Thornhill of Waseca, MN, and Dawn Salzwedel of North Mankato, MN; six grandchildren, Troy Fast, Michelle Fast, Jennifer and husband Grant Wigmore, Jeremy Thornhill, Kristi Thornhill and Luke Salzwedel; four great grandchildren, Krystal Fast, and William, Paige and Courtney Wigmore; a sister, Marilyn and her husband Donald Harrold of Newton, KS; a brother, Marvin Kliewer of Fairmont, MN; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John F. Fast; a daughter, Diana Fast; and a brother, Elmer Kliewer.
