Erwin Pelzel

Erwin George Pelzel was born on December 31, 1909 to Clement and Augusta (Engel) Pelzel at the family farm in Stark Township, Brown County, MN. He attended country school in Stark Township and farmed with his father and brothers. Erwin stayed on the original farm until moving into Sleepy Eye after he retired from farming in 1958. He enjoyed working at the sale barn in Sleepy Eye. Erwin has been a resident at Sleepy Eye Care Center since 2000. Erwin was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, Catholic Order of Foresters, and the Sleepy Eye Labor Society. Erwin died on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center at the age of 98 years. He is survived by his sisters - Lorraine Tauer of Morgan and Leona Lowinske of Sleepy Eye; a brothers - Melvin Pelzel of Sleepy Eye and Ben Pelzel of Durham, ME and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents - Clement and Augusta Pelzel; brothers - Roman, Edward, Leo, and Arthur; and sisters - Marian Muller, Irene Meyer, and Lucille Helget.
