Ervan D. Moldan, age 91 of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota died on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Sleepy Eye Rehabilitation Center. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye with Knights of Columbus Rosary at 10:30 am. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 am. The clergy will be Fr. Nathan Hansen. Interment will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by Sleepy Eye Honor Guard. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.
Ervan Donald Moldan, the son of Anton and Martha (Krzmarzick) Moldan, was born on July 5, 1934, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. Ervan was raised on the family farm along with his eight younger siblings and went to St. Mary’s Catholic School. After graduating in 1952, Ervan joined the military, serving in many areas including Germany. After his years of service to his country, Ervan was honorably discharged and returned to Sleepy Eye.
On May 23,1960, Ervan was united in marriage to Donna Schroepfer, and they began their married life on their own farm, planting oats together on the afternoon of their wedding day. Ervan and Donna were blessed with two children, Curtis and Susan. They celebrated 51 years of marriage until her passing in 2012.
Ervan loved family, farming, and fishing. He had a great sense of humor and loved telling stories. From early on he learned to work hard and taught his children the same. Ervan was a great dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa and he will be incredibly missed.
Ervan is survived by his son, Curtis Moldan (significant other Dawn Fast) of Sleepy Eye; daughter, Susan Brown (significant other David Stillo) of Sacred Heart; grandchildren, Kyle Brown, Cassandra Brown, and Gracie Moldan; great-grandsons, Kevin Brown and Henry Stevermer; siblings, Gerald Moldan, Marlyn (Mary) Moldan, Harold Moldan, Arlene (Jerome) Tauer, Delores Warner, and Jerome (Mary) Moldan; sister-in-law, Deborah Moldan; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; sister, Lorraine Sampson; brother, Melvin Moldan; sister-in-law, Lucy Moldan; and brothers-in-law, Art Warner, Cletus Homan, and Glen Sampson.
