Ernest Trapp

April 4, 1912 — June 8, 2008

Ernest Frank Trapp, Sr. was born April 4, 1912 in Charleston Township, Redwood Co., the son of William and Augusta (Holznagel) Trapp. He attended country school and graduated from Sanborn High School in 1931. Ernest attended Dunwoody Institute for Mechanics and drove truck. On March 5, 1938 Ernest married Alvina Dewitz on the family farm in Charleston Township. In 1944 he entered the U.S. Army and served in Europe until his honorable discharge in January of 1946. The couple farmed in Milroy, but spend most of their life on the family farm. Ernest has been a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn, served on the Zion Lutheran Cemetery Board for many years, a member of the Sanborn Legion, and a member of Farm Bureau. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and spending winters in Texas. Ernest died on Sunday, June 8, 2008 at Valley View Manor Care Center at the age of 96 years. He is survived by his wife - Alvina Trapp of Sanborn; children - Tom and wife Darlene Trapp of Sanborn and Ernest Jr. and wife Bette Trapp of Lamberton; 8 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; a son - Robert; a grandchild; sisters - Agnes, Ella, and an infant sister - Alice; and brothers - Ben, Walter, Richard.
