Ernest Bottem

Ernest J. Bottem was born on August 4, 1919, in Albion Township, the son of Fred and Hannah (Lee) Bottem. Ernie attended country school before moving to North Carolina and working at the North Carolina Ship Building Company. Ernie met Annie Bloodworth through a mutual friend while they both worked at the Ship Building Company and they were married on December 20, 1945 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wilmington, NC. The couple moved to Lamberton, MN where they purchased and operated a service station. Ernie was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Lamberton. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening, and playing the harmonica and guitar. Ernie died on Monday, June 16, 2014, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield at the age of 94 years. He is survived by his brothers - Lester (Eunice) Bottem of Minneapolis, MN and Floyd (Doris) Bottem of Worthington, MN ; 3 nieces, a nephew, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife - Annie in 2002 and his daughter Susan in 2007.
