Erna Hose

Erna Edna Hose was born on April 20, 1913 in Green Isle Township, Sibley County, MN the daughter of William Elsie (Rucks) Lueck. She married William Hose on Ocotober 31, 1931 at Friedens Ev. Lutheran Church in New Ulm, MN. They owned and operated Hose Hardware in Sleepy Eye for 49 years along with their son, Ron. The couple celebrated their Golden wedding aniversary on Oct. 13, 1981. William preceded her in death in 1984. Erna later married Art Pelzel in 1987. They spent their summers at Lake Hattie, near Backus, MN. Art preceded her in death in 1998. Erna continued to spend her summers at the lake where she enjoyed playing bingo, fishing, and feeding the ducks and geese. Erna also enjoyed bowling, making jelly, sending cards, traveling, senior dinners and TOPS in Sleepy Eye and Pine River. She was a charter member of Grace Ev. Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. Survivors include her daughter, Betty Jane (Dewayne) Hayes of St. Cloud and son, Ronald (Bonnie) Hose of Sleepy Eye, nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, sisters, Esther Chevalier of Minnetonka and Jean Sauter of Backus, and brother, Wilbert (Lorraine) Lueck of Excelsior. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Jolleen Gustner, husband William Hose and husband Art Pelzel.
