Emilio Florez

Emilio Florez, age 60, of Madelia, Minnesota died on October 16, 2015, at his home. Emilio Florez Jr was born on November 28, 1954 in Amherst, TX to Emilio and Lucy (Rodriguez) Florez. Emilio Florez was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1974. In 1976, he met the love of his life, Jovita Pesina and on September 29, 1980 they were united in marriage. The couple was blessed with four children: Melinda, April, Emilio and Chris. Emilio was a devoted father and loved being a part of the lives of his children. Emilio and his family resided in Olton, TX before they moved to Minnesota in 1990 for work. He drove truck for Cargill for many years before gaining employment with Tony Downs in Madelia, MN. Most recently, Emilio was starting his own business in landscaping before illness kept him from his work. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycle, but mostly, he loved spending time with his family. Emilio especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren. He was a devoted family man who will be dearly missed. Emilio is survived by his wife, Jovita Florez; children, Melinda (Jose) Lopez of Truman, MN, April (Jorge) Florez-Valladarez of Madelia,MN, Emilio (Claudia) Florez of Mankato, MN, Chris (Liz) Florez of Madelia, MN; 11 grandchildren; brothers, Roberto Flores, Ernesto Florez, Adan Flores, Tony Hernandez, and Joey Reyna.
