Emilie Netzke was born on August 24, 1910 in Redwood Falls, MN, the daughter of Emil Minna (Harder) Otto. She grew up in Redwood Falls and then moved with her family to Morgan where she attended school. Emilie married Julius Netzke on June 2, 1932 in Morgan, MN. The couple lived in Morgan and later moved to a farm in Eden Township. They retired in 1962 and moved to New Ulm where Emilie worked at the Union Hospital as a cook. In 1978 they moved to Sleepy Eye, Julius preceded her in death in 1997. Emilie remained in her home until she was 100 when she moved to the Sleepy Eye Care Center where she has lived for the last year and a half. Emilie enjoyed baking, scrabble, cards, fishing, quilting and gardening. Her greatest joy was her family. Emilie Netzke, age 101, passed away on November 22, 2011 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center surrounded by her family. She is survived by her daughter, Elaine (LaMonte) Helget of Sleepy Eye, son, Ron (Becky) Netzke of Evan, son-in-law, Ron Ellevold of Sleepy Eye, 15 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren, 24 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Julius, daughter, Pearl Ellevold, 4 sisters, Hilda Tietz, Luvera Jensen, Ardella Honl, Lois Gruber and grandchildren, Kevin Helget and Becky Hammerschmidt.
