There will be a Parish Prayer Service Wednesday at 7:30 PM at the funeral home and a CCW Rosary at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the church. Elvera Schumacher, age 95 of Springfield, died Saturday, May 31, 2008, at her home. Elvera Marie Schumacher was born July 3, 1912, in Stately Township, the daughter of Andrew and Gertrude (Eickholt) Schunk. She attended Country School District #71 in Stately Township through 8th grade. After schooling, she helped on the farm and was later employed at Stieler's Bakery and Restaurant in Springfield. She married John Schumacher on November 24, 1935, and the couple farmed in Stately Township. Elvera was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church, St. Monica Foresters and St. Anne's CCW quilting group. She enjoyed going on tours; canning, especially small pickles; flowers; decorating and baking cookies. Elvera Marie Schumacher died Saturday, May 31, 2008, at her home in New Ulm at the age of 95 years. Elvera is survived by son Eugene of Columbus, OH; daughter-in-law - Kay Schumacher of Arlington; 3 grandchildren- Randy (Rhonda), Kevin (Karla), and Julie (Mike); and 7 great-grandchildren- Cody, Seth, Brett, Alicia, Logan, Makinsey, and Tate. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John in 1982; brother Sylvester; and 3 sisters- Mildred Lang, Bernice Schumacher, and Marie Grochow.
