Elsie Jean Schultz, age 89, of Mt. Lake, died on June 22, 2025, at Good Samaritan Village - Mountain Lake.
Visitation will be on Sunday, June 29th, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sturm Funeral Home - Mt Lake and will continue on Monday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Community Bible Church - Mt. Lake. Funeral Service will be held at Community Bible Church - Mt. Lake on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at the Mountain Lake Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Mountain Lake. Online Condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.
Elsie Jean Loewens was born Christmas Eve of 1935 in Mountain Lake, MN, with her twin sister, Alice, the daughter of Henry and Nettie (Seibel).
She attended and graduated from Mountain Lake High School. Elsie married Vern Suderman on March 18, 1955, and they were blessed with 3 children - Lee, Kerry and Laurel. After Vern's passing in 1975, she worked at the Eventide Home in Mountain Lake. Elsie then married Arthur Rahn in 1976, joining their two families. They shared 25 years together before Arthur's passing in 2001. In 2010 Elsie married James Schultz and they were fortunate to share 4 ½ happy years together traveling and embracing each other's families before James lost his brief battle with cancer. Elsie later married Dr. Alvin Wiens in 2018 and had 4 loving years together before he passed in 2022.
Elsie was involved in many clubs throughout her life including Town and County Club, Tuesday study club and Bone Builders. She was active in her church as a Sunday School teacher for many years and singing in the choir. Elsie also volunteered at Good Sam and Eventide homes later in life. She enjoyed reading, walking, jigsaw puzzles, bird watching and traveling with her husbands. Above all, Elsie adored her family and spending time with them.
Surviving Elsie are her children - Lee (Barb) Suderman, Kerry (Deanna) Suderman, Laurel (Michael) Brown, Lois (James) Marschinke, Arlene (Pat) Hurt, and Harlan Rahn; 14 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; siblings - Alice Hooge and James Loewens. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings - Orlando (Marie) Loewens, LaVern (Mandy) Loewens, Evelyn (John) Stoesz, Norman (Dora) Loewens, Linda (Ralph) Friesen and Carol (Wallace) Clement, daughters-in-law Geraldine K. Suderman and Jan Rahn, great granddaughter Chole Suderman and brother and sister-in-law David Hooge and Darlene Loewens.
