Elsie was born on January 27, 1894 on a farm South of Gibbon, MN, the daughter of Joseph Anna (Frank) Biebl. She grew up and attended country school and helped on the family farm. Elsie was believed to be the oldest person living in Minnesota and was the oldest surviving member of her 13 brothers and sisters. She was a seamstress as a young adult and also did beautiful crocheting. She married Otto Oddie Palmer on September17, 1928 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax. They lived in Fairfax where she was a housewife and mother to her children. She enjoyed baking, gardening and canning. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1978. Otto passed away in 1980. Elsie was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax and the Christian Mothers. Elsie resided at the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye since 1992. Survivors include her daughter, Mary husband James Hoagland of Thousand Oaks, CA, her son, Otto Jr. wife Mary Ann Palmer of Roseville, MN, grandchildren, Barbara Palmer of Washington, D.C., Ann Palmer of St. Paul, MN, Mark Hoagland of West Hills,CA, Paul Hoagland of Simi Valley, CA. sisters-in-law, Helen Biebl of Fairfax and Helen Dorholt of Aitkin, MN and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Otto in 1980, brothers and sisters, George, Frank, Aloysius, Mary Banchi, Lucy Walter, Anne Wendorf, Rose Bullemer, Margaret Isakson, Helen Halverson, and in infancy or childhood, Ferdinand, Agnes, Kate and Joseph.
