Elsie Mathistad

Elsie Louise Geiger was born July 19, 1919 at Hanska, MN, to parents Jacob and Anna (Luesmann) Geiger. She grew up and attended school near Hanska. She was baptized September 15, 1919 and confirmed June 11, 1933 at Lake Hanska Lutheran Church. Elsie was united in marriage to Henry Mathistad in Butterfield on October 20, 1951. The couple made their home in Butterfield. She worked for many years at Butterfield Produce. Elsie enjoyed gardening and socializing with her friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband, 3 sisters Selma, Dora, Ruth, and 6 brothers Herman, Edwin, Harry, Jacob Jr., Emil, and James. Grateful for having shared her life are her daugher Mavis Mathistad and her husband Tom Bearie of Watertown, MN, son Roger Mathistad of Fairbault, MN, sister Martha Bloom of Seattle, WA, brother Herbert Geiger and his wife Bernice of Mankato, MN, sister-in-law Mabel Geiger of St. James, MN, many nieces, nephews, relative and friends.
