Ellyn Quiring

August 4, 1948 — October 22, 2005

Ellyn Dianne Fuhrmann, the daughter of Edward Carl and Evonne Eloweese (Andersen) Fuhrmann was born on August 4, 1948 at Tyler, MN. Ellyn was baptized in 1948 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Balaton, MN, and confirmed in 1963, at Grace Lutheran Church in Russell, MN. After graduating from the Russell High School, Ellyn continued her education at Mankato State University with a B.S. in Elementary Education, a Master's degree in Educational Leadership, and a sixth year degree inElementary Administration. She came to Mountain Lake, MN in January 1970, and taught in the Mountain Lake Public School District for her entire career until retiring in 2004. Teaching was an important part of Ellyn's life, and her students were very special to her. On July 16, 1977, Ellyn was united in marriage to Harold Paul Quiring at the Grace Lutheran Church. Ellyn was an active member of Immanuel Mennonite Church in Delft, MN, where she enjoyed serving as pianist and organist. She also enjoyedcrossword puzzles, antiques and reading. She was a member of the NEA, MEA, Tuesday Study Club, Wa-Tan-Ye Service Organization, and on the board of directors for Western Community Action. Ellyn died on Saturday afternoon, October 22, 2005, at her rural Mountain Lake home with her family and many friends at her side. Ellyn is survived by her husband, Harold Quiring of Mountain Lake, MN; three sons, Thomas and his wife Cindy Quiring of Mountain Lake, MN, Curtis Quiring of Waconia, MN, and Christopher Quiring of White Bear Lake, MN; her mother, Evonne Fuhrmann of Russell, MN; five grandchildren; two sisters, Elise and her husband Steve Williams of Russell, MN, and Kristy and her husband Dave Jones of Sioux City, IA; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Fuhrmann.
