Ella Margaret Welp

Ella Margaret (Arduser) Welp was born October 31, 1918 to Albert and Elizabeth Arduser in rural Madelia. She attended country school and was a graduate of Madelia High School in 1937. Ella married Marvin Welp on January 26, 1942 at the First Presbyterian Church in Madelia. The couple lived in Alpha, MN until Marvin went into the service for 3 years. During that time, Ella worked for Stokley VanCamp to support the WWII effort while her husband served in the South Pacific. Upon his return in 1945, they moved to Madelia where they farmed until Marvin's death in 1982. Ella remained on the farm until 1996 when she moved into town. She was an active supporter of her children's Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and 4-H, a former member of Fielden Ladies Extension Club and Order of the Eastern Star. Ella was a life long member of the First Presbyterian Church in Madelia, where she was baptized, confirmed and married. She was active in the church circles and the Presbyterian Women's group. Ella enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, dancing, playing golf and spending time with her family. Ella Margaret Welp age 99, of Madelia, Minnesota died on April 28, 2018 at Luther Memorial Home in Madelia, MN. Ella is survived by her son, Ronald (Cindy) Welp; grandchildren, Mark (Connie) Welp, Kim (Jay) Thomas, Nikki (Kyle) Goodburn, Dawn Stafford; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Taylor Thomas, Blake Goodburn, Angelina Welp, Maverick Marvel; 14 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin; daughters, Joanne and Carol; granddaughter, Sonya Welp; grandson, David Stafford; great-grandson, baby Stafford; sisters, Della (Elmer) Hoenstein, Betty (Winston) Mitchel and Nada (Dick) Lee; brothers, Kenneth (Mary) and Lenard (Marilyn) Arduser; brothers-in-law, Clarence (Lauretta) Welp, Henry (Lorene) Welp; sister-in-law, Almiena (Duane) Baker.
