Ella Riley

There will be a Parish Prayer Service on Sunday at 5:00 PM at the church. Ella Doretta Petersen Riley was born to Christian Rose (Rekow) Petersen in Redwood County on February 20, 1918. She married Sylvester J. Riley on May 19, 1936 in Wanda, MN. They farmed south of Redwood Falls for five years then farmed south of Wanda for 39 years before retiring in 1975. Ella worked at Control Data and cooked at Wanda Schools for several years. She was a member of St. Mathias Catholic Church in Wanda. Ella was also a member of the CCW, NCSF, and Wanda Senior Citizens. She enjoyed spending time cooking for her family, playing cards, and playing Bingo. Ella died on Thursday, August 23, 2007 at Wood Dale Care Center in Redwood Falls, MN at the age of 89 years. She was survived by her children - Monica (Howard) Kingsley of Atwater, CA, Sylvester C. (Kathleen) Riley of Lamberton, MN, Audrey A. (James) Fuchs of Pine Island, MN, Dennis A. Riley and special friend Lorraine of Lamberton, MN, Giles J. (Linda) Riley of Lamberton, MN, Edward D. (Kathleen) Riley of Kingman, AZ, Bernard W. (Marianne) Riley of Pine Island, MN, and Marian M. (Dan) Arnoldi of Northfield, MN; 23 grandchildren; 53 great grandchildren; and a sister - Ann Salewske of Redwood Falls. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Sylvester in 1989; sisters - Isabell Gall and Rose Arnette; a brother - Carl C. Petersen; daughters-in-law - Rita and Carol; 2 granddaughters; and 4 great grandchildren.
