Liz was the first of two born to George and Josephine Koehn in Whittemore, Iowa, on December 5, 1927. A couple of years later, Liz had a younger sister, Marie Koehn, born on October 25, 1930. Liz spent her early days growing up around the Saint James area. Liz and Marie attended District 19, a school on County Road 10, until the 8th grade. Liz was the only one in her class for all eight years.
Liz grew up in Saint James and met Bernard Zeidler, and they were married on November 25, 1953, at the Saint James Catholic Church, which they attended all their lives. They were married a few days shy of celebrating their 60th Wedding Anniversary. Unfortunately, Bernard passed away on November 14, 2013.
Over the years, Liz worked on the farm, and Bernard worked at Tony Downs in Saint James. Liz’s passion was her farm.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents, George and Josephine Koehn; husband, Bernard Zeidler; and sister, Marie (Koehn) Lindquist.
Liz is survived by her two nieces, Louise (Rich) Olsen and Linda (Ed) Connell; 6 great-nieces and nephews; and 11 great-great nieces and nephews on her side and many nieces and nephews on the Zeidler side.
Her everyday advice is: “Enjoy what you have.”
