Elizabeth Wendland

March 12, 1914 — December 14, 2007

Elizabeth Mae Wendland was born March 12, 1914, to Olive (Pattridge) and Martin B. Harrison near Jeffers, MN. 'Beth' grew up in the Jeffers area attending school and working at various part-time jobs. One of Beth's fondest memories was of her mother reading to them when they came home from school for noon dinner. She became an avid reader with a deep love of books which continued well into her eighties. Beth also learned the art of sewing and quilting and was very accomplished at both. Many of her family are blessed with her beautiful quilts and other keepsakes of her handiwork. On March 14, 1934, Beth was united in marriage to John Wendland. They moved to St. Paul where Beth spent the majority of the years there as manager of the cafeteria of a large bank complex. Many special events were catered under Beth's direction and she was proud of her work there. She valued the friendships made there, retaining them even after the move to Comfrey in 1975. Beth and John enjoyed many years together in their retirement, sharing a love of gardening and traveling. Beth also enjoyed playing cards, fishing, canning their garden produce, and baking. She was a member of the Comfrey Senior Citizens and the UCC Church in Comfrey. Beth passed away on Friday, December 14, 2007, at the Sogge Home in Windom, MN at the age of 93 years. Beth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John in 1995, brothers Earl, Thomas, John, and George, and sisters Lucie and Lois. She will be sadly missed by her sister Rose Moller, her Comfrey family Doug, Jodie, Melissa and Brian Callanan, numerous nieces and nephews, and special friends Ron and Evy Robinson.
